About This Opportunity

We are seeking an enthusiastic and experienced academic to join the University of Queensland in the role of Lecturer/Senior Lecturer – Computer Science or Software Engineering within the School of Information Technology and Electrical Engineering.

You will engage, as a Lecturer or Senior Lecturer, in undergraduate and postgraduate teaching, student supervision, and further development of the School’s undergraduate and postgraduate programs, as well as performing scholarship, administrative and other activities associated with the School.

As a teaching-focused member of staff, the holder of the position will contribute to teaching and learning leadership in the school and will undertake work in the scholarship of teaching and learning (SoTL).

For US applicants, please note that Australian Universities use British terminology, as such a Lecturer position is equivalent to that of a non-tenured Assistant Professor position in the US.

This position is located at our picturesque St Lucia campus, renowned as one of Australia’s most attractive university campuses, and located just 7km from Brisbane’s city centre. Bounded by the Brisbane River on three sides, and with outstanding public transport connections, our 114-hectare site provides a perfect work environment – you can enjoy the best of both worlds: a vibrant campus with the tradition of an established university.

Our Ideal Candidate

To be successful in this position you should possess a PhD in Computer Science or Software Engineering or a related area.

You will also demonstrate proven experience in curriculum design, coordination and teaching with evidence of effectiveness in online and/or blended educational practices.

The successful candidate will be expected to coordinate and teach large programming courses and track record of supervision of Honours student projects or equivalent to successful completion.

You must have unrestricted work rights in Australia for the duration of this appointment to apply. Visa sponsorship is not available for this appointment.

What We Can Offer

This is a full-time, 3-year fixed term position at the Academic Level B or C.

The full-time equivalent base salary will be in the range for Academic Level B is $99,542.80 - $118,206, plus super of up to 17%. The total FTE package will be in the range $116,465 - $138,301 per annum.

The full-time equivalent base salary will be in the range for Academic Level C is $121,939 - $140,603, plus super of up to 17%. The total FTE package will be in the range $142,669 - $164,506 per annum.
