The Division

The Greater Sydney Division is redefining integrated transport choices to improve the lives of customers and communities, making Greater Sydney a better place to live, work and play. We have the single biggest place making opportunity at Transport in the coming years, reshaping Greater Sydney into a metropolis of three cities – Eastern Harbour City, Central River City and Western Parklands City - whilst also overseeing the Greater Sydney region as a whole.

The opportunity

We are currently recruiting a Director Sub-Portfolio Management Office role on a Fixed Term Contract until 31st May 2022. The successful candidate will lead and direct the Portfolio Management Office (PMO) function for the Greater Sydney division.

You will be involved in:

You will lead the development and implementation of best practice in program controls management, frameworks, methodologies and processes, compliance and assurance.

You will also:

  • Define business strategies and operational policies to drive the provision of quality program management services, improved performance and value across programs, projects, and functions across the division
  • Lead the development and implementation of the program master schedule and reporting processes including business rules, guidelines and templates, in order to provide accurate and timely schedule management and advice to key stakeholders
  • Lead the development and delivery of internal and external critical resource management strategies, focusing on program integration, interface coordination and conflict resolution
  • Embed skilled resources within relevant parts of the division to ensure high standards of program accounting, quality management, and program assurance are maintained in all programs of work
  • Oversee the completion of benefits realisation for the portfolio of Greater Sydney investment initiatives to ensure the delivery of program outcomes
  • Provide expert advice to Executive managers on current diverse and complex issues as they arise and support preparation of complex correspondence, briefing notes, and reports in relation to specific projects, initiatives, and issues to ensure advice and submissions are accurate, timely and have appropriate signoffs.
About You

This role would suit an experienced leader, with previous experience leading teams in a large complex environment. You will have extensive experience in service delivery/support at an executive level, possess excellent communication, writing and presentation skills, including experience in the preparation of presentations, sensitive correspondence, briefing material and submissions.

You will also have thorough knowledge and understanding of the workings of government and an appreciation of Ministerial and Government imperatives and decision-making processes and superior knowledge and understanding of the Transport portfolio.

Experience

in the development, management, and improvement of project governance systems, change management initiatives and implementation of quality assurance processes is also highly regarded.
