Transport Scheduler / Allocator - Sydney inner west

Up to 85k + super

Our client is a well-established transport and logistics provider going through a period of planned growth. Handling FMCG, reefer, ambient temperature, full and less than container loads, they deliver into some of Australia's largest retailers.

About the role:

Use of Transport Management System OPSI PLATO to schedule, build loads, calculate capacity, and optimise the route and drop routine of the transport orders before allocation to carriers

Use of TMS to rate optimise the order allocations

Use of carrier desktop/mobile web portal as the main communication interface between the company and the carriers

Day to day operational exception management to ensure the customer DIFOT is achieved

Provide timely and high-quality service to customers that meet or exceeds the service promise

Use excellent judgement and highly developed analytical skills to delivery high quality decisions; and

Develop and maintain good relationship with customer operational staff, carrier and internal staff

In order to be considered this role you will have:

  • Have a sound knowledge of local geography
  • A demonstrated knowledge of Australian road transport industry and carriers
  • Knowledge and/or experience in using transport order management, allocation and execution business systems.
  • An ability to exercise sound judgement
  • Experience in working with multi-faceted customer and supplier environments
  • Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of the principles of road transport service delivery through use of optimisation and work-flow systems and use of capacity available from carriers.
  • Exposure to forestry industry transport would be an advantage.
