Could you be our next Senior Corporate Relations Manager?
A key partner to the McDonald’s Australia business, the Corporate Relations department is looking for an experienced and ambitious Senior Corporate Relations Manager to build and protect the reputation of one of the country’s most well-known brands.

This role will report to the Director of Corporate Relations and plays a critical role in supporting the implementation of proactive and reactive communications strategies across external and internal channels to support business growth.

The successful candidate will have 8-10+ years in a corporate communications role, including demonstrated experience working with both business and consumer media. A recognised tertiary qualification in Public Relations, Communications or other related field is preferred.

What can you expect on a day-to-day basis?

  • Develop and implement external communication strategies to promote the reputation, business strategy, franchisees, executives, products, services and people of McDonald’s Australia
  • Protect and maintain McDonald’s Australia’s reputation as a market leader and Australia’s largest employer of young people
  • Act as a media spokesperson
  • Drive media engagement and strategies to address high-profile core business issues
  • Work cross-functionally to conceptualise and pitch stories to core business, finance and consumer media
  • Manage issues and crises across the business
  • Provide strategic counsel to leadership and key functional departments regarding message development, media briefings, issues management and internal announcements
  • Build and maintain relationships with journalists, online influencers and key internal stakeholders
  • Work collaboratively and strategically with the broader Corporate Relations team and agencies to ensure integration of all communication and stakeholder engagement activities
  • Develop proactive, positive consumer PR campaigns to drive awareness of McDonald’s news and brand stories (including Ronald McDonald House Charities Australia)
  • Writing and distribution of press materials, key messages, Q&A documents
  • Support the management of our PR, marketing and social agency partners
  • Support franchisees with media and issues management communications at a local level
  • Manage internal cross-functional project teams and team meetings
  • Support the Government Relations team to proactively engage local, State and Federal stakeholders

Your keys to success:

  • Proven experience with and understanding of Australian business and consumer media
  • Highly motivated and able to operate independently
  • Able to influence stakeholders at a senior level throughout the business
  • Can easily conceptualise and pitch business-related (non-consumer focused) stories to diverse media targets
  • Strong writer with proven experience including key message development and media releases
  • Proven issues management experience
  • Proactive, takes the initiative to pre-empt problems
  • Able to prioritise multiple tasks and enjoys a fast-paced, ever-changing work environment
  • Embraces change and is motivated by challenges
  • Confident with media engagement across a broad range of outlets and sectors, including business and consumer media
  • Well-organised, demonstrated project management skills
  • Great at building strong interpersonal relationships with co-workers, stakeholders and third parties
