Where you will be working

Wagga Wagga Base Hospital (WWBH) is one of the busiest rural hospitals in NSW with 325 beds. We support over 40,000 emergency presentations, 1,100 births and approximately 11,000 operations each year.

Wagga Wagga Health Service provides services including critical care, medical, surgical, paediatric, obstetric, and rehabilitation care. We also provide mental health and community health services. We work with a team of specialists which include cardiovascular, gastroenterology, renal medicine, obstetrics, orthopaedics, psychiatry and paediatrics. There is also the provision of a full range of allied health and support services such as dental, physiotherapy, occupational therapy, sexual health and violence prevention and response services.

A specialised Mental Health Recovery Unit provides a large modern and comfortable facility and our community health services are co-located on the one Wagga Wagga campus.

About the Opportunity

The CNS2 is responsible for the provision of high level patient centred, evidence-based clinical nursing care to clients who have chronic hepatitis C for the purpose of treatment and is expected to embrace and lead a practice development philosophy in the delivery of that care.
The CNS2 encompasses the core criteria of the CNS1 with additional characteristics of; exercises extended autonomy of decision making and exercises professional knowledge and judgement in providing complex care requiring advanced clinical skills. This outcome is achieved through undertaking comprehensive nursing assessments on clients with chronic hepatitis C. The CNS2 is responsible for evaluation and supervision in the provision of complex nursing care directed towards patients within the designated area of clinical practice.
The CNS2 provides expert consultation and educational support to clients and their carers/families in the designated area of hepatitis C as well as to primary health care providers and staff. The CNS2 is also the District contact point for refugee health services, including liaising with refugee service partners and coordinating District wide training on refugee health needs including the use of translation tools.
The CNS2 will demonstrate the ability to act as a professional role model, delivering a high level capacity for patient advocacy and cost benefit practice while demonstrating the ability to act as a change agent, provide effective clinical leadership and the ability to practice as an autonomous professional with the capacity to work within a multidisciplinary team environment.
