What You'll Be Doing

Provide a specialist social work and psychology service to patients, clients, consumers and their family/carers to ensure the provision of optimal health outcomes consistent with Illawarra Shoalhaven Local Health District (ISLHD) policies, procedures, standards, relevant legislation, and the NSW Health Code of Conduct.

The position provides the above service to children, young people and adults who have been sexually assaulted and adults who have experienced domestic violence. This includes crisis intervention, counselling, court support, psycho-education, group work and support to non-offending family members, carers and significant others of clients.

Essential

parts of the role include consultation, education, and training, participating in community development activities with community partners, other service providers and the community to increase awareness of sexual assault and domestic violence. It is also essential to ensure an appropriate response to sexual assault and domestic violence and aim to reduce the incidence of sexual assault and domestic violence in the community.

Selection Criteria

  • Full registration with AHPRA as a Psychologist or a Social Work degree and eligibility for the Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW); including the ability to demonstrate a practical application of the Psychology/AASW Code of Ethics.
  • Extensive direct clinical experience conducting crisis interventions, counselling, group work and complex case management for people who have experienced trauma (eg. child/adult sexual assault, family and domestic violence). A minimum of 3 years relevant experience post-graduation.
  • Clear understanding and application of evidence based models of care and demonstrated positive clinical outcomes for clients exposed to or experiencing trauma.
  • Demonstrated clinical practice with appropriate ethics and boundaries when working therapeutically with children, young people and adult victims of sexual assault and adults who have experienced domestic violence. This includes a demonstrated understanding of legislation related to the above issues.
  • Demonstrated high level ability to communicate clearly and succinctly both verbally and in writing, and proven ability to work effectively and collaboratively within a multi-disciplinary team. Demonstrated competence in the use of electronic information systems.
  • Demonstrated ability to prioritise work and manage stressful situations; ability to work unsupervised and apply advanced reasoning skills and independent professional judgement when dealing with situations of a novel or critical nature.
  • Demonstrated ability to initiate, lead, complete and share quality improvement activities and service evaluation processes with other staff and demonstrated capacity to provide clinical supervision.
  • Current NSW Drivers Licence, with the ability to travel in accordance with position responsibilities.
