We are a designated state-wide provider for services including trauma, and we lead centres of excellence for tertiary services in several key specialties including neurosciences, nephrology, oncology, cardiology and virtual health.

Your new team

The Sunshine Adult Acute Psychiatric Unit (SAAPU) is a 29 bed acute mental health acute hospital program based at Sunshine Hospital, and is the inpatient service of Midwest Area Mental Health Service.

SAAPU is a large diverse interdisciplinary team comprising medical, nursing, social work, occupational therapy, nursing, and lived experience peer staff.

Work closely together in partnership with consumers and their families to provide treatment and interventions when consumers are experiencing an acute deterioration in their mental health and related distress; and to support the consumer’s recovery.

Your success in this role will be your ability to

Provide direct assistance to consumers, carers and families

Work collaboratively with other community agencies

Work effectively as part of a team, to meet program goals and objectives

Ability to work and communicate with complex mental health consumers

Your Contribution

Work collaboratively with the multidisciplinary team to ensure the delivery of a positive and safe experience to at-risk consumers

Excellent skills in identifying and engaging with key welfare, health and other support agencies and working collaboratively to improve consumer’s outcome and recovery

Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively

Skills in working with cultural and linguistically diverse communities

A current Victorian Driver’s License, and ongoing ability to use this form of transport.
