FO-4 Quality & Business Improvement Coordinator

With a strong commitment to customer service, the Quality & Business Improvement Group provides quality management, audit, compliance & continuous improvement services, in support of the Forensic Services Department and force policies and programs. The Forensic Services Department is strongly committed to the professional development of its people in accord with dedicated local policy.

About the role:
To coordinate quality management and business improvement activities of the Forensic Services Department within established procedures with a key focus on maintaining compliance to accreditation standards and assisting with continuous improvement of Departmental processes.

As the successful applicant, some of your duties will include:

  • Coordinate all activities of the Department's quality management system in consultation with relevant stakeholders in order to meet compliance with Departmental procedures, Victoria Police policy and accreditation standards.
  • Coordinate the Department's business improvement program and assist with developing this capability based on industry best practice principles and methodologies.
  • Provide technical advice, support and guidance for the Department on all matters relating to quality and business improvement activities, principles and methodology including identifying waste, conducting root cause analysis, developing and implementing countermeasures and monitoring effectiveness in line with the business improvement framework within a multidisciplinary environment.
  • Coordinate the investigation and response to Corrective Action Reports (CARs), complaints and other non-conformance events in line with prescribed procedures and timelines, identifying potential opportunities for specific, local and departmental continuous improvement.
  • Negotiate with a wide range of stakeholders in relation to process and service delivery improvements/changes.
  • Development and delivery of training and facilitated workshops to all levels of staff on quality management and business improvement activities, principles and methodology
  • Prepare and present reports to internal and external stakeholders in relation to quality functions and business improvement activities.
Skills & experience:As the successful applicant, you will ideally have:
  • Demonstrated experience and understanding of quality management systems, auditing and inspections.
  • Demonstrated experience leading and coaching business improvement activities and successful delivery of initiatives utilising contemporary principles based on Lean methodology.
  • Proven ability to coordinate quality management functions within a multi-disciplinary environment.
  • Highly developed analytical and problem solving skills including proven ability to lead and drive the problem solving process within a complex, multi-discipline environment.
  • Highly developed communication and interpersonal skills and demonstrated experience in stakeholder engagement, negotiation and ability to influence and maintain effective working relationships and stakeholder satisfaction at all levels of the organisation.
  • Proven ability to develop and facilitate training and workshops relating to business improvement.
  • Proven ability to monitor client and stakeholder satisfaction, and constructively manage stakeholder issues to ensure positive outcomes for the stakeholder and the Region/Department/Command.
Requirements and relevant information:
  • An approved degree or post graduate degree in Science and/or equivalent qualifications in quality management and/or audit would be highly desirable.
  • The successful candidate will be required to undergo pre-employment checks which may include fingerprint checks and misconduct screening.
  • The successful candidate will be required to provide a DNA sample (buccal swab) for use in laboratory quality control procedures (elimination purposes only).
  • The position may require the incumbent to work outside the ordinary hours e.g. (Shift work/Overtime/On call).
