About the Project

McConnell Dowell is the constructor within the Western Program Alliance (WPA) which forms part of the Victorian State government’s ambitious level crossing removal program. The Alliance brings together the Level Crossing Removal Project (LXRP), Metro Trains Melbourne (MTM), and Arup and Mott MacDonald as design partners.

WPA was formed in 2017 and following the successful completion of several major projects, is now focused on delivering the level crossing removals at Werribee (Werribee Street & Cherry Street), Hoppers Crossing (Old Geelong Road) and Cranbourne (the Cranbourne Line Upgrade), as well as developing future works projects.

Your Opportunity

We are currently seeking applications of qualified tradespeople with relevant experience in the construction, building or manufacturing industries to join us as Civil Supervisor. You will be responsible for managing the efficient and effective coordination of field operations and ensure risk reduction controls are in place.

As Civil Supervisor, you will be accountable for:
Organising, coordinating and directing construction activities in accordance with construction schedules
Monitoring and reviewing the performance of plant, labour and subcontractors to ensure production targets are met
Ensuring all activities are performed in compliance with the requirements of the relevant specifications, codes and standards
Ensuring safe and environmentally acceptable working methods and practices are implemented and adhered to
Ensuring that hazards are identified, risks assessed, and control measures planned and implemented

Requirements for this role are:
Trades qualification relevant to the construction, building or manufacturing industries
Extensive experience working in the construction industry on civil infrastructure projects
Excellent understanding of local and federal safety acts is desirable
Demonstrated experience in management of contractors and tradespeople
Self-motivation, with well-developed organisational and stakeholder management skills.
Demonstrated ability to work under pressure and to deadlines
Sound communication skills and the ability to form relationships with both internal and external parties
