Position Summary:
  • The Operations Manager, Determinations will be employed in the Compliance and Enforcement Branch, Engagement and Delivery Division, COVID-19 Public Health Response to assist in the day to day management of the Determinations unit which has responsibility for considering applications for exemption from hotel quarantine from international travellers.
  • This position is responsible for ensuring applications are processed in a timely manner in accordance with overarching policy parameters.
  • The successful candidate will use their strong analytical skills and sound judgement to review cases. They will possess the interpersonal, communication, negotiation and influencing skills needed for both sound team management and effective liaison and negotiation at high levels of government.
Responsibilities:
  • Responsible for all aspects of team management as one of four managers - (the team works 12 hours a day, 7 days a week)
  • Ensure the team's output meets timeline and quality expectations of senior management.
  • Pro-actively build and maintain effective working relationships and facilitate the flow of information across the department and with key external stakeholders.
  • Maintain an understanding of the government's quarantine policy and how it applies to international travellers.
  • Provide guidance and support to team members to enable them to undertake their roles as case officers and team leaders effectively
  • Keep accurate and complete records in accordance with legislative requirements and the department's records, information security and privacy policies and requirements.
  • Take reasonable care for your own health and safety and for that of others in the workplace by working in accordance with legislative requirements and the department's occupational health and safety (OHS) policies and procedures.
  • Demonstrate how the actions and outcomes of this role and work unit impact clients and the department's ability to deliver, or facilitate the delivery of, effective support and services.
