Manager, Shield Development ongoing contract role with South Australia Police

Your new company
It's never been a more exciting time to join the South Australia Police, Information, Systems and Technology Service. SAPOL provides a diverse range of services to the community aimed at providing a safe and peaceful environment. The Information, Systems and Technology Service are transforming and are seeking new skills and attributes to enhance the ICT approach for the organisation.

Your new role
The Manager, Shield Development is a newly created role in the Application Services Branch and will be responsible for managing the engine room that drives the core policing system for SAPOL, Project Shield. This ongoing role will manage a high performing team that is responsible for the analysis and development of the Shield application and its data. This development team works on new releases, enhancements, upgrades and third level incident resolution. You will have experience leading strong SDLC development teams through robust technical discussions to achieve successful solutions. You will have people management experience and the ability to lead and motivate others to deliver a critical function in a complex organisation.

What you'll need to succeed

  • Extensive experience in managing, developing and leading the implementation of programs, policy and processes that support and enhance the maintenance of application development environments within a complex business environment.
  • Extensive experience leading, motivating and managing a high performing team in the development, delivery and evaluation of critical functions including setting and managing key performance indicators.
  • Comprehensive and contemporary knowledge of the application developments standards, tools methods and process and detailed knowledge of relevant government policies and their application to SAPOL operations.
  • Demonstrated ability to work autonomously, as well as collaboratively in a team, within broad policy guidelines, exercise significant levels of independent judgement.
  • High level knowledge and practical experience managing staff and application development functions in a SDLC and ITIL environment
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, including the ability to communicate complex technical ICT concepts and explain technology solutions in business terms to a wide range of audiences, and develop documentation to a high standard.
  • Proven ability to apply strategic, analytical, and innovative thought and action, and interpret information and think laterally when analysing and identifying business solutions.
