CM Talent is urgently seeking an experienced Payroll Officer with a proven ability to successfully deliver a payroll service to a high volume, blue collar workforce. An intermediate understanding and experience paying against various awards and performing BOOT tests when required.

Areas of Responsibility

1. Maintain awareness of daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual deadlines and plan activities to ensure all deadlines and reporting requirements are met on time.

2. Process the payroll in its entirety from establishment of job order and staff record, coding and checking of timesheets, checking accuracy and compliance, identifying errors, and fixing them before pays are processed.

3. Field all payroll enquiries from internal team members, field staff, and clients, acknowledging, resolving, responding, and actioning those enquiries within specified timeframes.

4. Manage all backpay or general payroll reconciliations, calculations, and adjustments for approval by the Payroll Manager.

5. Hold intermediate skills in award interpretation, be able to identify key requirements, apply the BOOT, and understand how clauses interact with each other; be committed to continually improving your skills in this area and keeping knowledge current with a view to lifting skills in this area to advanced.

6. Report in a timely manner and proactively address breaches in service delivery; progress timely corrective action and/or escalate issues where policies, procedures or internal controls are ignored or breached.

7. Monitor, schedule and implement changes required to payroll, award rates, superannuation, and associated matters to ensure Tailored Resources remain compliant in all matters.

8. Advise your manager when a learning and development gap prevents achieving the standards of performance and/or behaviour required for the role; ensure a thorough and ongoing understanding of the policies, procedures and manuals as updates occur.

Experience, qualifications & personal attributes

1. Minimum three years in a similar role with experience managing casual workforces across multiple awards.

2. At least intermediate skills in payroll systems and Microsoft Excel with the ability to interrogate errors and anomalies and fix them.

3. Well-developed communication, negotiation, conflict resolution and influencing skills underpinned by sound technical competence.

4. Exceptional time management and ability to manage varied and conflicting demands to agreed standards and timeliness.

5. A demonstrated ability to accept responsibility; work effectively both autonomously and as part of a team; willingness to take direction; and accept constructive feedback.

6. Excellent attention to detail with problem solving skills and demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with co-workers and supervisors.

7. A preparedness to learn and adopt new technology, work practices, systems, and procedures; underpinned by sound technical competence.
