About The Role

We are currently seeking an experienced Project Accountant to join our large-scale public infrastructure project in Perth, Western Australia. This permanent role will report to the Commercial Manager and be responsible for providing quality accounting services to the project to meet management and statutory accounting requirements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist the with the preparation of monthly and quarterly reports and reviews.
  • Maintain Project related ledger account and the Project Asset Register.
  • Analyse project costings, ensuring costings are accurate to enable the preparation of forecasts
  • Liaise and build working relationships with Alliance Project staff, other members of the Corporate Finance Team and key Business Unit/Project Managers.
  • Timely processing of staff timesheets.
  • Management of the recharge accounts ensuring all recharge costs are agreed and cleared during the month
  • Prepare monthly view of both internal companies concerned with the Alliance
  • Provide support on a quarterly basis to the external auditors in relation to the audit items raised. Aim is to challenge current processes and practises in order to resolve audit items raised whilst also adhering to the guidelines of the PAA
  • Timely processing of routine transactions including journal posting for correction of costs, SRO, invoicing, payment costing and revenue recognition.
  • Timely and monthly preparation of various reconciliation reports e.g. balance sheet, leave balances, payroll hours, non-chargeable account and possession payments.
  • Liaise with Project Director and Commercial Manager on a monthly basis to better understand the cashflow forecast and monthly movements.
  • Process and review timesheet allocations for both overhead and project staff
  • Provide documentation for cost queries from the project teams
  • Assist project, regional and corporate staff with coding queries
  • Identify and implement business process improvements to streamline tasks and improve efficiency in line with the PAA.
  • Project cost and productivity analysis as required by Project Director /Commercial Manager.

You will have
  • Strong attention to detail, commercial acumen and understanding of customer/client needs
  • Process Improvement orientation, with the ability to analyse, design and review a complete business process to achieve better quality and more cost-effective results.
  • Tertiary qualification in Accounting, along with a Membership/qualification of CPA Australia (CPA) or the Institute of Chartered Accountants (CA)
  • A minimum of 5 years’ experience in an Accounting/Finance role, with exposure to COINS and management reporting forecast.
  • Experience working for Tier 2 & 3 Construction Contractors will be highly regarded.
