Manage and deliver design projects in urban water and sewer reticulation systems in this permanent role with City Projects Office.

Brisbane City Council’s City Projects Office (CPO) incorporates design and project management services to create and manage infrastructure projects, community assets and environmental development for Brisbane. We also deliver innovative solutions for natural and built environments with some of the projects ranging from the Kingsford Smith Drive upgrade, to upgrading community assets such as park facilities, roads and intersections, swimming pools, libraries, and halls.

We are currently looking for a Senior Designer, Water and Sewer Reticulation within our Drainage Design team, based in Fortitude Valley. The team manages and delivers detailed design for Council’s annual Storm Water Drainage Capital Works program, as well as providing professional design services and general AutoCAD and 12D modelling support. We have become one of the most diverse design teams in Council, with projects across stormwater harvesting, sedimentation basins, detention basins, back-flow valves, water reticulation and sewerage, wetland areas, channel design and landfill remediation.

About the role:

Reporting to the Principal Design Manager you will be performing a critical role, working on Council's annual Capital Works schedules as well as supporting other programs with general advice on water and sewerage related issues.

You will be using your specialist knowledge and experience in the design and rehabilitation of Urban Utility’s assets impacted by Council’s projects, and you will have the opportunity to design enhancements in a fully developed urban environment, working across a variety of sites and providing informal mentoring to junior members of the team. 

As the successful candidate you will have:

  • demonstrated experience in designing urban water and sewer reticulation systems and an ability to investigate and advise on technical issues
  • high-level computer skills and experience in the use of CADD systems, e.g. 12D, AutoCAD and PC Drain
  • an Associate Degree in Civil Engineering or equivalent tertiary qualification in a related field
  • the ability to foster and maintain effective working relationships with a range of stakeholders; and
  • commitment to ensuring provision of high-quality project outcomes.
