The Head of Fuel Supply Chain is responsible for leading a team that will execute the Fuel Supply Chain strategy, deliver cost transformation and ensure the consistent supply of safe, high quality fuel supply for the Group.

The Qantas Group spends a significant amount on fuel and associated supply chain costs annually. Negotiations with fuel and fuel infrastructure providers involve a high degree of complexity, requiring strong influencing skills, strong internal and external stakeholder management, and a sound understanding of corporate finance principles and infrastructure planning.

To be successful in this role you will have a strong leadership presence and practice delivering against challenging cost and operational criteria that has a meaningful impact on business wide financial performance.

You’ll have –


  • 10 – 15+ years’ experience in a senior strategic sourcing, supplier relationship management, category management and procurement-based position
  • Substantial experience managing large procurement teams with complex workloads and competing priorities
  • Expert influencing, communication and negotiation skills, demonstrating the ability to influence and persuade senior stakeholders and build effective ongoing relationships at all levels of the organisation
  • Experience leading multiple complex high value negotiations, advising and coaching negotiation teams
  • Strong leadership skills with experience managing large teams, establishing and running cross functional project teams and delivering outcomes in a time sensitive environment
  • Expert level understanding of category strategy development and its alignment with overall business goals and strategies
  • Demonstrable commercial expertise with a clear understanding of the drivers affecting the business
