The Senior Financial Analyst (Projects) is responsible for monitoring, analysing and reporting on the financial performance of capital works projects and asset maintenance within the Schools of the Sydney Catholic Schools (SCS) enterprise. The role is responsible for the management of the budget and maintenance of the 10 year long term strategic capital budget, providing analysis and recommendations on capital projects including financial metrics, preparation of Board and Committee level reports. The role also is responsible for developing systems, implementing and enforcing controls surrounding the capital and maintenance expenditure.

The Role

Reporting to the Financial Controller, the Senior Financial Analyst (Projects) is required to perform tasks which include but are not limited to:

  • Implementing financial controls/monitoring
  • Overall management of the reporting of the financial and operational aspects of SCS’s capital works projects and maintenance ($150m+ annually)
  • Undertaking demographic reports and studies in consultation with eternal experts.
  • Preparing project feasibility studies and papers for submission to the SCS Board.
  • Providing monthly reporting and commentary on the performance of capital works projects, both financial and operational.
  • Compiling reviews of capital works projects post completion/ submission of papers to the Board.
  • Ensuring proper commercial terms and structures are in place for projects.
  • Providing regular updates on the forecasted financial position of all capital works projects.
  • Ensuring that reporting dashboards are updated and accurate.
  • Preparing performance report and analysis.

About You 

To be successful in this position, you must possess:

  • University Degree or equivalent in Accounting/Business.
  • CPA/CA qualified.
  • Minimum 10 years accounting experience in mid-level roles.
  • Established experience in management accounting/business advisory in a medium to large building/construction or investments with exposure to budgeting, forecasting, reporting and analysis, process improvement/change management.
  • Experience facilitating and preparing for effective capital analysis, NPV, IRR, MIRR payback.
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy, good judgement showing logical decision making and a hands-on approach.
  • Highly analytical with experience in interpreting and explaining financial concepts and results to staff with a non-finance background.
  • Willingness to respect, support, and uphold the mission, ethos, and teachings of the Catholic Church and the values of Sydney Catholic Schools.
