The Mental Health Program provides specialist mental health assessment and care for all ages in the Eastern Metropolitan Region of Melbourne. Fundamental to our service delivery are the principles of recovery oriented mental health practice.

Our services cover the continuum of care and include both inpatient and outreach services in the following divisions:

• Child and Youth Mental Health Services (CYMHS)

• Adult Mental Health Services (AMHS)

• Aged Person Mental Health Program ( APMH)

• Research and academic programs

The Mental Health Program works in partnership with State-wide Services which include the following divisions:

• Alcohol and Drug Service

• SPECTRUM (state wide service for people with a personality disorder)

• Dual Diagnosis

The PEHS, part of Eastern Health’s Mental Health Services, seeks to improve the identification of women in the antenatal and post-partum period with mental health difficulties, improve referral and treatment pathways between hospital and primary/community health services and clinical mental health services, provide evidence-based accessible assessment, care and treatment for women and their infants, and strengthen capacity of the health workforce to support women at risk of perinatal mental illness, their carers/partners and families.

PEHS work closely with Antenatal services with Box Hill and Angliss Hospitals and Maternal and Child Health Services within the Eastern Metropolitan Region.

About the role

PEHS is seeking an experienced and enthusiastic senior clinician to join the team. The position will be based at the Angliss and Box Hill Hospitals, with the potential to also provide treatment and care, for referred women and their infants, within a maternal child health service within the Eastern Metropolitan region.

As the successful candidate you will have a demonstrated capacity to engage with women in the perinatal period, undertake bio-psychosocial assessment, provide a range of evidence based therapeutic interventions and effectively manage an allocated case load. You will be supported by an experienced, supportive multidisciplinary team working under the leadership of the Service Coordinator and Perinatal Emotional Health and Consultant Psychiatrist.

About you

To be successful in this role:

Substantial clinical experience in the perinatal period (conception to 12 month post birth).Demonstrated ability to work within a recovery-orientated model, utilising a person/family centred approach

Well-developed interpersonal and communication skills

Ability to work as part of a diverse team

Strong commitment to high quality clinical care

You will work collaboratively with a motivated group of professionals who are inclusive, passionate and share a vision to provide excellent, evidence-based mental health care to clients and their families. This position requires developed communication, organisational and teamwork skills and the ability to participate in evaluation and quality improvement activities.

The successful applicant will have the opportunity to provide primary and secondary consultations to support internal and external stakeholders, facilitate referrals, enhance access to care and provide psycho-education sessions where required.
