About the Opportunity

As part of the Regulatory Services Program, you will provide strategic leadership to our Development Assessment & Business Centre teams, delivering the end-to-end assessment of all development applications and customers seeking access to the public realm through a variety of permits. This is a unique opportunity to shape the experience & outcomes being delivered in a Capital City context, during a time of substantial legislative reform.


You will a have leadership style which is naturally empowering, supportive, collaborative, encouraging and drives culture, which will enable you to lead customer-focused and innovative outcomes, approved in accordance with relevant legislation, safety standards and Council policies. As Council’s appointed Assessment Manager, you will also provide expert advice, and represent the organisation in relevant panels and committees.


About You

To be successful in this role you will have:

  • Significant experience in leading cultural change, and providing motivational leadership within a multi-disciplinary environment, which continually enhances and builds the team’s capability and performance.
  • Level 1 Accreditation in the Accredited Professionals Scheme under the PDI Act
  • A proven comprehensive knowledge of relevant legislative responsibilities, particularly as applied to development assessment (planning) functions including the Development Act & Regulations and PDI Act & Regulations
  • Proven ability to understand and interpret complex legislation, drawings, plans and technical specifications.
  • Demonstrated ability to apply urban design principles to development and an understanding of architectural terminology.
  • Strong communication & negotiation skills with the ability to manage high level stakeholder relationships
