Client Details

Michael Page is recruiting for a local government body who is looking for an experienced Community and Stakeholder Engagement Officer to assist in delivering infrastructure projects. Recognised as one of Brisbane's largest employers, this contract opportunity allows you to engage with a range of stakeholders to deliver a range of community based projects.


Your key duties include:

  • Lead and role model customer focused behaviour by delivering the highest standards of service to their customers.
  • Work in partnership with your team leader to agree performance standards and mutual expectations. Give and receive regular feedback to enable performance to be improved and take personal responsibility for optimising your potential within council.
  • Develop and manage community and stakeholder engagement strategies for division, ensuring deadlines, budgets and organisational priorities are met.
  • Provide strategic community and stakeholder engagement advice to key stakeholders within the division and across council.
  • Develop and deliver a wide range of engagement tools, in line with local council guidelines, to meet the diverse needs of the community.
  • Support your team members through engaging in continuous improvement processes and contributing to a respectful and positive work environment.
  • Develop presentations and reports for key stakeholders regarding council's infrastructure projects.
  • Represent the local council at meetings with external stakeholders as required.
  • Proactively identify and monitor community engagement related project risks and issues.


In order to be considered, your application will demonstrate:

  • Prior experience working in a similar role within communications, community and stakeholder engagement.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop, deliver and evaluate community and stakeholder engagement strategies to support infrastructure project outcomes and goals.
  • Demonstrated experience in developing and maintaining positive working relationships to influence a diverse range of stakeholders, including elected representatives, senior managers, project managers, consultants and contractors.
