About the role


As Senior Network Engineer, you will work closely with key stakeholders, including customers and partners, to deliver the required outcomes for data and network services. 

Sydney or Melbourne based, you will report to the Head of Delivery, and your accountabilities will include design and deployment for network delivery projects. You must be willing and able to attend Network cutovers after hours.


Responsibilities (not limited to) include;


  • Working with Network Architects to develop Detailed Design and Site-Specific Design documentation for SDWAN, Telstra IP Data Solutions, VC, voice & infrastructure solutions (on-premise & cloud), including zoning and IP detailing.
  • Collaborating with third-party network providers to ensure solution design is met.
  • Providing technical expertise and assistance to project managers and teams throughout the project lifecycle, particularly during the design and build phases.
  • Negotiating, collaborating and consulting with suppliers, service providers, system integrators and partners to deliver high-quality services and solutions.
  • Providing support for marketing by contributing to blogs and marketing materials.


Essential Criteria


  • Minimum of two years experience in the Australian IT industry.
  • Minimum 4 years experience working on large scale complex networks.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills with the ability to articulate solutions clearly and concisely.
  • Experience in SDWAN Telstra Cloud and/or Network and Data products is a MUST.
  • SD-WAN knowledge preferably with VeloCloud, Cisco Meraki or Viptela.
  • Experience in Network Domain (Data/Wireless)
  • IP Routing & Switching - Expert knowledge of IP Routing and switching. Extensive experience in all the major routing and switching protocols, such as BGP, EIGRP, OSPF, RIP, RIP V2, and Multicast, Spanning Tree, VLANs, ATM, MPLS/Tag Switching, and Data Link Switching.
  • NEXTGEN FWs Experience implementing FW (e.g. Checkpoint, Palo Alto), Cisco ASA firewalls – Design of rules for Routers & Switches, e.g. Cisco, Juniper, Palo Alto.
  • Knowledge of enterprise Ethernet, VLANs and L2/L3 Switching & Routing.
  • VPN termination, including IPSEC/GRE tunnels, DMVPN, Cisco VPN client & SSLVPN.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills across networks and cloud platforms.
  • Ability to ensure customer privacy regulations are understood and implemented.
  • LAN technologies (e.g. Cisco WLCs), Dot1x
  • Policy-based routing & complex access lists.
  • F5 (including APM, GTM, LTM)
  • Assist with onsite and cloud installations of new equipment.


Highly Regarded /Desirable Criteria


  • Experience with Juniper and Avaya Networks solutions.
  • Experience designing and configuring networks for private cloud (e.g. Cisco HCI)
  • Virtualised Infrastructure including VMware, AWS, Azure
  • Experience with Enterprise-grade Wireless
  • Experience designing and deploying cloud DNS


Qualifications


  • Vendor certifications will be highly regarded; Palo Alto, Checkpoint, Velocloud, CCIE – Voice, CCNA or CCNP, and CCNA.
