The Role

You will join a newly established team with the remit to implement best practice budget management in support of sustaining world class Aerospace Surveillance and Response capabilities: the P-8A Poseidon and MQ4 Triton aircraft systems. In this role, you will perform budget planning and development, along with in year budget management and forecast development to sustain and operate these aircraft systems. You will apply your advanced analytical skills and understanding of the budgeting process to enhance budget planning and decisions, and aid in managing the portfolio’s risk.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Support the Budget Manager by providing support and day-to-day management of the budget for various SRSPO Portfolio’s including the P-8A Poseidon and MQ4 Triton aircraft systems.
  • Undertake planning, development, processing and presenting of the Defence Management Financial Plan (DMFP) and Sustainment Assessment Review (SAR) processes on an annual basis.
  • Provide analysis for monthly reporting on the in-year budget, Operational Support and US Navy Cooperative Program expenditure to ensure the budget is managed to meet capability requirements and within an acceptable tolerance level.
  • Support budget management activities related to the US Navy’s provision of sustainment services through the Cooperative Program, including participation in regular forums with the US Navy and biannual Performance Management Reviews.
  • Conduct an in depth mid-year review of expenditure to date against forecast, providing analysis of variances and impact on capability outcomes and proposing options where required.
  • Exercise initiative and judgement to facilitate effective budget management outcomes with stakeholders, including invoice processing and reconciliation of services conducted with service providers.
  • Work with stakeholders to ensure procurement proposals are well articulated, defensible, in accordance with procurements rules and aligned with Program priorities.

About our Team
The Surveillance and Response Systems Program Office (SRSPO) ensures the availability and performance of highly complex surveillance and response airborne and related systems for the Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF). This includes the new P-8A Poseidon aircraft system and the P-3C (Electronic Warfare) aircraft capability.

SRSPO also acquires and supports common Aeronautical Life Support Equipment (ALSE) that is used on all air vehicles operated by the RAAF, Navy and Army. In the near future we will support a new remotely piloted, high altitude, long endurance aircraft system, the MQ4 Triton.
