Wests Group Macarthur is seeking an experienced and committed Senior Finance Manager with a proven successful career in Finance to oversee all aspects of financial management. The position requires strong business and financial acumen with a practical focus to improve operational and financial oversight of the business. This is a hands-on role to ensure our business can deliver accurate reliable financial reporting and operations analysis and will be suitable for a Senior Finance Manager who can think strategically, solve problems, create opportunities, and build financial models for operational efficiency for a business with over 300 staff, 70,000 members, 700 gaming machines, multiple food and beverage outlets and an award-winning golf course.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide strategic leadership for corporate and financial governance
  • Identify and implement financial strategies and systems to position Wests Group Macarthur for growth to ensure long term financial viability of the business
  • Effective financial modelling to assist shape and drive departmental financial targets and accountabilities
  • Ensure corporate and financial governance best practice and adherence to accounting standards
  • Build business cases, ROI schedules and feasibility reports around both operational and strategic objectives for the business to allow decisions based on accurate modelling
  • Oversee monthly financial reporting including transaction processing of month end journals and reconciliations
  • Manage monthly account reviews, interim audit and financial year-end audit
  • Plan and develop risk management and asset protection processes to ensure the sustainability of the Club
  • Procurement and contractual negotiation support to the CEO and Executive Team
  • Drive technological solutions for improved business efficiency, productivity, and performance
  • Ensure compliance with taxation law and accounting standards
  • Development of budgets, forecasting and financial planning
  • Effective cash flow management and management of fixed asset register
  • Responsible for key portfolios including payroll, cost control, procurement, insurance and risk registers
  • Provide leadership and coaching to the finance team

The ideal candidate for this role will have:

  • Proven record within a senior finance role with the ability to operate strategically whilst understanding business operational challenges and opportunities
  • Understanding of statutory financial reporting requirements
  • The ability to translate financial information to a variety of stakeholders
  • Strong finance acumen and high-level strategic thinking
  • Have the capability and mandate to challenge the business on all matters of a financial nature
  • Ability to work to tight deadlines and prioritise
  • Strong attention to detail and analytical skills
  • Proven leadership, interpersonal, relationship building and communication skills
  • ‘People person’ with the capacity and willingness to contribute to the broader organisation success and culture
  • Knowledge of computerised accounting and financial management system; Microsoft Dymanics GP and Micropay Meridian payroll system would be a distinct advantage
  • Tertiary qualifications in Finance, Accounting or Business discipline – CPA/CA qualified
