The Opportunity:
We’re looking for a proactive and experienced Research and Strategic Consultant -Planning to join our high performing Melbourne Planning team. You will have the opportunity to contribute to driving the ongoing thought leadership of our Melbourne Planning offering through a strong focus on identifying emerging trends in urban planning policy and the broader development industry and undertaking research projects which support thought leadership and profile enhancement of the team and individuals.

You will also play an important role in supporting staff growth and development, through building a knowledge culture within the team. The role will be supported by highly experienced directors and a market leading national Planning team. With your technical background and excellent communication skills, you will be expected to bring leadership, credibility, and professionalism to the role and to build and maintain new and existing relationships with clients.

You will:
Keep abreast of market developments and industry trends affecting the business and devise strategies to respond
Build and be recognised for having strong relationships with decision makers within client organisations
Exhibit strong qualitative and quantitative research skills
Synthesise and interpret data from a range of sources
Identify commercial implications (for Melbourne Planning and our clients) of issues identified through research and knowledge activities
Demonstrate outstanding written and oral communication skills and the ability to distil and communicate the key messages
Demonstrate a clear capacity for initiative, and to work either autonomously or within a team environment

About You:
Tertiary qualifications in Urban Planning or closely related discipline
5+ years’ experience working as a planner
Experience in applying urban planning policy and development controls, preferably within a private sector organisation, consultancy, or policy advisory
Experience in research associated with the planning and/or property fields
An understanding of and experience with business development is also preferred
Strong project management and preseantation skills
