The Position

Position Title: Epidemiologist
Classification: HS5
Salary per hour (exc. super): $46.99 per hour
Hours per fortnight: 76 hours (part time hours available)
Employment Status: Fixed term

Key Responsibilities:
Support the PHU in evidence based decision making by producing epidemiological analysis, profiling and modelling of factors that influence public health in the PHU region.
Provide epidemiological support and advice to the PHU by investigating links between cases, and transmission dynamics in clusters.
Support the PHU function through understanding and sharing knowledge of the epidemiology of COVID-19 and other communicable diseases relevant to the PHU.
Oversee data extraction and produce reports and visualisations to support the activities of the PHU.

The Team

The Clinical Governance Division has a focus on promoting and supporting patient safety and quality of service. It recognises the importance of leadership, culture, patient safety, clinical performance, professionalism and patient care. The Clinical Governance team works collaboratively with other staff to provide high quality clinical governance support and advice, both internally and when supporting our Regional Partner Health Services. The Clinical Governance team, in conjunction with the Office of the Chief Medical Officer, oversees incident reporting, investigation of adverse patient events and concerns/complaints regarding clinicians. Bendigo Health has a leadership role to play in the Loddon Mallee region and this division is committed to ensuring processes are in place to deliver on our vision.

In addition the Executive Director Clinical Governance has professional responsibilities as the Chief Medical Officer. As such the CMO is focused on leading and supporting the medical workforce to feel valued and empowered to provide exceptional, quality care.

Selection Criteria

01.Relevant tertiary qualification in epidemiology or related field or equivalent applied experience.

02.Well-developed oral and written communication skills and proven ability to liaise effectively with users to elicit, document and meet their data requirements.

03.Knowledge of public and population health information, analytics, and monitoring systems.

04.Knowledge of data governance processes.

05.Experience synthesising complex data from a variety of different sources, analysing it and presenting the results to stakeholders from a variety of backgrounds.

06.Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel and experience working with business intelligence and analytical tools such as Tableau or Power BI.
