About the team

Bendigo Health Mental Health Services is a complex service that provides psychiatric care and treatment across a large catchment area in Victoria stretching from Swan Hill in the north of the state to Gisborne in the south. Services are provided to a range of clients, including patients, families and carers, General Practitioners and other members of the broader mental health service system. A range of clinical services is provided to patients across all ages through dedicated programs.

Child and Adolescent Mental Health (CAMHS) is a community based, multidisciplinary team that works with children and adolescents 0 -18 years who are displaying serious emotional, relationship, personal care or behavioural disturbances that impact on family and social relationships and/or their functioning in school or the workplace.

About the position

Reporting to the Manager, Child and Adolescent Mental Health, you will provide psychiatric intake, assessment and treatment, psycho-education and therapy for patients of Psychiatric Services and their families /carers.

You will:
Provide case management, clinical treatment and support for child and adolescent clients, their families and carers, including some with more complex needs using a range of psychotherapy treatment modalities in both individual, family and group settings in the community
In conjunction with clients, families, carers and members of the multidisciplinary team, undertake comprehensive bio psychosocial assessment and formulate strategies for the psychiatric treatment and support needs of the clients
In consultation with parent, carer, patient and relevant agencies formulate, negotiate, document, monitor and maintain an Individual Service Plan (ISP) for each patient of the service

Selection Criteria

01.Current registration as Registered Nurse or Occupational Therapist with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) or; Social Worker - membership/meets the eligibility requirements for membership, with the Australian Association of Social Work.

02.Demonstrated knowledge of the current Victorian Mental Health Act (2014) and the Child and Young People Act 2008, amendments, other relevant legislation and the current strategic directions of mental health services in Victoria.

03.Demonstrated experience and ability in community based psychiatric assessment support and treatment of people with a mental illness.

04.High level of organisational skills with a sound ability to strategically prioritise work requirements/demands.

05.Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively with patients, carers, colleagues, service providers and the community

06.Post graduate qualifications in Mental Health related field, or working toward same

07.High level experience in child and adolescent mental health services or able to demonstrate an aptitude for such work
