As the Legal Specialist you will manage litigation, support the claims teams with claims related legal advice, and undertake legal project work within Return to Work Support Services. You will have the choice to apply for our Sydney CBD, Parramatta, Chatswood or Newcastle office.

Working with the Performance & Quality team this role will be responsible for ensuring EML performance targets and organisational objectives are met while providing a high level of service delivery to our stakeholders.

Your Responsibilities
  • Providing technical advice on legislative, regulatory, legal, policy and guidelines requirements affecting workers’ compensation claims and employer premium to enable sound, evidence-based and legally accurate decision making.
  • Managing, and reviewing legal advice associated with common law damages claims and statutory workers’ compensation benefits.
  • Keeping up to date with case law and precedents affecting claims, premium and the scheme.
  • Providing practical technical advice about strategic management, both generally and in relation to specific claims.
  • Collecting and reporting on identified scheme trends and individual cases.
  • Providing assistance with advice and/or drafting of legal notices and correspondence.

About You
  • Demonstrated experience in a similar role with strong workers compensation claims management experience including
  • Experience with workers compensation litigation
  • Excellent understanding of the Workers Compensation legislation and the associated regulations
  • Bachelor of Laws or other tertiary studies in personal injury/workers compensation, legal studies/jurisprudence and alternative dispute resolution considered favourably.
