About Us

TheWorkplace Safety Reform unit was newly established in 2019 and supports the Minister for Workplace Safety in the delivery of an ambitious policy agenda and key strategic reforms.

This includes government's public and election commitments such as the implementation of a new Workplace Manslaughter offence, improvements to Victoria's workers' compensation system and a range of policy, legislative, and regulatory changes to improve safety in the workplace.

The Unit works closely with WorkSafe Victoria, and other regulatory bodies to deliver these commitments.

About the Role

The project support officer will provide high quality project and administrative support, including:

  • contributing to research and policy advice
  • responding to enquiries
  • liaising with team members
  • working with stakeholders to ensure project objectives are achieved.

Some of the key responsibilities of the role will be:

  • supporting key projects, including contributing to and supporting research and policy work, responding to enquiries, liaising with team members, and working with stakeholders to ensure project objectives are achieved
  • planning, coordinating and managing a range of communications and project activities
  • providing administrative support to the Workplace Safety Reform team
  • supporting the analysis of information to identify relevant insights for policy development and advice and contributes to the development of advice to the Minister, Secretary, Deputy Secretary and Ministers.

About You

As our ideal candidate, you will have:

  • an understanding of project management techniques, such as defining and sequencing work tasks to deliver on agreed outcomes and in line with agreed timeframes
  • experience in developing and implementing systems, processes and ways of working to plan and monitor own and team performance
  • demonstrated ability to resolve issues and problems in a timely manner, which are logical and adequately researched
  • proven experience in developing, researching and presenting complex written documentation 
  • knowledge of how legislation is developed and of Cabinet and Parliamentary processes, which is desirable.
