What we’re looking for?

Kmart is building a platform from scratch to take our product offering to the world and help set Kmart up for future success in the online space. Utilising cutting edge technology, in a fully Agile team, we are looking for a Technical Lead to join Kmart and help us with maintaining the current platform and work on the transition to our new one. This role will see you responsible for driving developer best practice, scalability and innovation to support the growth of the Kmart Online business while also helping us to lay out the foundations and roadmap for the new platform that will take Kmart Online into the future.

About You

As the Technical Lead you will have overall accountability for the current platform from a technical perspective as well as managing a team of up to 6 Engineers and 2 QAs - the people administration/management side of the role, although a critical part of the position, will only form a small part of this exciting opportunity.

As Kmart is building a new platform, we will need to continue to support the current platform concurrently so we are after a mix of skills. The current platform is Websphere Commerce, so experience with this is ideal, including DB2, Java, J2EE, Struts, JSP as well as general web development skills including HTML, CSS (SaSS) and JavaScript. The new platform is cloud-native in AWS. Experience with AWS, including CloudFormation or similar technology, as well as Node.JS and TypeScript and a strong understanding of building event-driven microservice based architectures are all desirable. Previous ecommerce experience is preferred.

You will be afforded autonomy and accountability in your role and have access to development opportunities across both Kmart and the Wesfarmers Group, excellent remuneration, inclusion in company bonus scheme & access to Wesfarmers share plan (both for eligible team members), free parking and benefits program including a discount card for Kmart, Target and Officeworks.

At Kmart Group we aim to ensure our teams reflect the diversity of the communities in which we operate.
