Project Engineer – Power Substations
South East Melbourne
Permanent Position


As a national provider to the utility infrastructure sectors, my client gained a great reputation for our breadth and depth of experience delivering design, construction and maintenance services for our clients.

We are currently recruiting a Project Engineer to commence with us on a full-time, permanent basis. The primary focus of this role is to provide project engineering/project management expertise and support to the; Project Manager, Operations Manager and other stakeholders as required.

About the role;

  • Develop and maintain engineering plans and schedules ensuring engineering and design completion on time and within budgets
  • Monitoring changes to designs, assessing effects on cost, and measuring, valuing and negotiating variations to designs
  • Provide a safe and secure workplace for all employees by actively working with staff to achieve the safety policies
  • Provide technical support to the project team ensuring compliance with technical specifications, legislation, approvals and standards.
  • Define construction methods, materials and quality standards, and drafting and interpreting specifications, drawings, plans, construction methods and procedures
  • Organising and directing site labour and delivery of construction materials, plant and equipment, and establishing detailed programs for coordination of site activities
  • Develop efficient communication between various project groups, as well as internal and external stakeholders

About You
  • Relevant Engineering degree (Electrical or Civil)
  • Demonstrable experience in both Greenfield and Brownfield Substation Construction Projects with a preference of understanding the AusNet network
  • Proven experience as a Project Engineer to oversee multiple crews and deliver successful projects (field based)
  • Excellent communication skills and be able to interact with the clients
  • Must be able to monitor on site safety, quality, schedule and project budget
