McLean Care Ltd is a dynamic and rapidly expanding not-for–profit aged care provider operating across the homecare, residential and independent living sectors in NSW and QLD. Reporting to the General Manager of Home and Community Care this position is responsible for coordinating the delivery of culturally appropriate care and support to aged care respite clients from a range of culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds. We are looking for a motivated self starter who is passionate about creating a new service from the ground up.

This position will be responsible for establishing a respite center in the Dubbo area and will provide operational coordination, direction and leadership of the day to day service delivery planning, activities, systems and outputs of McLean Care’s CALD Respite Centre. This position includes consumer and stakeholder engagement, supporting staff and volunteers and ensuring that the abilities and choices of consumers are met through wellness and reablement frameworks.

Essential Skills & Knowledge

  • Understanding and sensitivity to the needs of people form culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds;
  • Strong advocacy, negotiation and conflict resolution skills;
  • Strong relational customer service mind set with demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with people from diverse language, faith and cultural backgrounds;
  • Demonstrated staff management skills.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of local community resources, cultural groups and key CALD community leaders and stakeholders
  • Knowledge and experience working in the area of community aged care or carer support programs;
  • Knowledge of the Aged Care Quality Standards.
  • Demonstrated understanding of Work Health and Safety principles and the ability to apply these in the workplace to effectively manage and mitigate relevant risks.
  • Demonstrated understanding of infection control principles

Experience

  • Experience in the development and delivery of successful respite and carer support programs and services;
  • Experience in leading a highly diverse team, exhibiting a holistic approach to the delivery of service through working harmoniously and constructively in a team setting;
  • Experience in managing staff performance in relation to organisational and legislative requirements;
  • Understanding of managing and maintaining databases to monitor and report against KPIs, participant targets and other important information
  • Demonstrated experience working in a role that requires cultural sensitivity, including a demonstrated ability to build rapport with people from a variety of cultural, religious and social backgrounds.
