OVERVIEW

Our Federal Government client is currently seeking an experienced Science Program Officer to join their team at the APS6 level. Within this role, you will be assisting with the implementation of seven programs including the development of documents and procedures to support policy, procedural and project implementation for the Agency. A key focus during this assignment is the development and implementation of strategies and procedures to encourage best science practice.

YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES

Co-ordinate comments and feedback on a draft Science Strategy and draft communications materials for a range of audiences
Researching policy and operational requirements for establishment of advisory groups, partnership models for government and scientific agencies, and development of a science prospectus
assisting with scoping and development of a framework to harness strategic engagement with stakeholders
Drafting effective project reports and briefs to senior executive in relation to progress on policy and process development
Organising and providing secretariat support for meetings and workshops with internal and external stakeholders

EXPERIENCE / REQUIREMENTS

Demonstrated experience in implementing multiple programs ideally within a science industry
Demonstrated experience in policy research with the ability to provide summaries and recommendations for implementation
Excellent written communication skills with the ability to prepare briefs, reports and meeting documentation
Strong time management skills with the ability to meet competing deadlines
willingness to work as part of a team to deliver key program outcomes.
