Work as part of a team to support and coordinate the development and implementation of a range of youth focused policy initiatives

Temporary Full Time Role for 2 years
Location - Queanbeyan, Armidale, Dubbo or Coffs Harbour preferred. Other Regional NSW locations will be considered.
Annual salary $97,152 - $107, 541 + plus super and leave entitlements

The Department of Regional NSW is partnering with Hudson Canberra on a project to identify a number of high performing individuals for critical roles supporting the growth and prosperity of Regional NSW communities. These roles provide an exciting opportunity to truly make a difference for the future sustainability of Regional NSW.

About the role

In the role of Policy Officer, you will work as part of a team to support and coordinate the development and implementation of a range of youth focused policy initiatives to contribute to the delivery of programs that support Government commitments to regional communities. This role will be involved in delivering results for supporting the growth and sustainability of youth across Regional NSW.

In addition, some of the key responsibilities will be:
Provide a range of policy and program support services, including preparation of reports and briefs, coordinating resources, maintaining project documentation and implementing and monitoring project plans, to ensure policy and program outcomes are achieved on time, on budget, to quality standards and within agreed scope
Prepare and maintain documentation for reporting, monitoring and evaluation purposes to ensure accessibility of quality information and contribute to the achievement of project outcomes.
Communicate with key stakeholders and coordinate working groups, committees and consultations to facilitate exchange of information and support policy and program completion in line with plans.
Source, collate and compile data and information to identify emerging issues and track and report on progress against established milestones and deliverables.
Undertake research and analysis, identifying trends and preparing project briefs, to support informed decision-making and planning.

About you

You will have experience in policy development and project management including the ability to manage multiple activities with competing timeframes, set priorities, meet deadlines and work as part of a team. You will have sound skills in providing advice on a range of issues to management and stakeholders in government and industry.

To be successful in this role, you will demonstrate:
Experience developing diverse policy initiatives
Demonstrated experience initiating and supporting partnership projects with a range of industry and government stakeholders
A passion for improving the lives of people living and working in regional NSW
Knowledge of government programs, decision processes and probity requirements
Exceptional communication and relationship building skills
Appropriate tertiary qualifications or equivalent, relevant professional experience and training
