The Exciting Opportunity:

This SENIOR HR ADVISOR position is a true generalist role which is very 'hands on / transactional' and would suit someone who is looking for variety and a real 'meaty' role where you are very involved with the whole business and can make a big impact. You will be responsible for all HR generalist aspects of the NSW business including ER, IR and Recruitment.

You will be the Senior HR Advisor across the NSW business (head office) which consists of 200 employees and will have a HR Advisor on your team. The business is undergoing massive growth through some exciting project wins and we anticipate additional growth in the NSW HR Team in approximately 6 months, so it is a great time to be the spearhead representing HR in the NSW business.

Responsibilities include:

  • Managing performance, KPI's and goal achievement

  • Provide robust, timely and specialist advice, support and coaching to management and staff on HR and Workplace Relations that deliver solutions to the full range of complex organisational issues

  • Assist line managers to case manage and resolve complex workplace issues to facilitate effective and value-adding solutions in relation to Workplace complaints and issues, Workplace investigations, Workplace conflicts and disputes, Performance management (unsatisfactory performance and discipline) and Fitness for work cases

  • Mentor line management by providing leadership and coaching to ensure the delivery of business results, through HR interventions

  • Maintain a professional level of knowledge of emerging trends and developments relating to HR management and workplace relations.

  • Interpretation of legislation, regulations, awards and industrial agreements (training and support will be offered if you do not come from construction or the building industry

  • Provides advice to project managers during tendering and start-up phase of projects relating to the project terms and proposed conditions of employment

  • Lodges visa applications for existing employees in liaison with Migration Agents, as well as acting as general point of contact for management and employees on visa and immigration queries

  • Provides recommendations in regards to remuneration and benefits for employees and independent contractors.

  • Facilitate the delivery of the annual salary/market/performance review processes and benchmarking activities

  • End to end recruitment where required - facilitate effective workforce planning to identify the capacity and capability to deliver its objectives

Essential Criteria:

  • Minimum 5 years practical experience in a Human Resource Generalist role

  • Sound knowledge of current employment and workplace legislation and regulations as well as contemporary human resource practices, policies and trends

  • Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate and promote HR practices and adherence to legislative compliance

  • Well-developed verbal communication and interpersonal skills, with proven ability to build rapport, interact effectively at all levels and provide support and advice

  • Strong written communication skills, with an ability to write general correspondence, policies, procedures, guidelines and reports
