The Opportunity

Veolia ANZ is currently looking for a Chemist to join the team at the Welshpool site. This would be a full time, Monday to Friday with some flexibility in working hours.

As the Chemist on site you would be assisting and coordinating safe, effective and efficient Liquid and Hazardous Waste acceptance and disposals to meet our customer needs.

Your responsibilities would include:

  • Responsible for the safe unloading and Licence compliance (DWER and ADG) of Packaged and Bulk Liquid Waste received at the site
  • Responsible for the identification, manifesting, labelling and storage of all packaged waste
  • Responsible for the sampling and identification of Bulk Liquid Waste streams as required
  • Preparation of waste material for processing by type and/or class.
  • Preparation of waste material loads for dispatch and suitability for discharge
  • Bulk load compatibility checking for dispatch.

You’ll need:

  • Tertiary level qualification in Chemistry or related science discipline
  • Relevant experience in a similar role
  • Managing deliverables in relation to health and safety, productivity, quality and schedule outcomes.
  • Current C Class driver’s licence
  • Knowledge of Dangerous Goods Legislation, Controlled Waste legislation, environmental and industrial solutions
  • Demonstrated planning, scheduling and operational abilities.
  • Sound communication skills both written and verbal
  • Decisiveness

In this role, you’ll discover:

  • Great people... and a company that cares

From your teammates to colleagues and partners across Veolia, you’ll find people who care about doing a good job. And you’ll belong in a company that truly cares - about the customer, the community, the environment... and you.

  • ‘Team’ works here - it’s who we are

Reporting into the Principal Chemist you’ll work on site alongside other members of the Operations Team. You’ll learn from your team mates, as much as they’ll learn from you.

  • Stimulation and challenge, delivered

While ‘Operations’ is about process and rhythm, you’ll find plenty of variety in your role. In addition to being the site Chemist you’ll play a key role in maintaining a robust safety culture and identifying more efficient ways of working that don’t compromise safety or quality.

  • Opportunity and growth, there for the taking

In this role, you’ll be trained across a number of concrete skills for the job in hand. Many of our Chemists have continued to progress their career with us, moving into a variety of roles across the business.
