This temporary ongoing opportunity is with a civil contractor with a presence in Mackay. They have work with a range of businesses across the QLD region and have a need for a competent HSEQ & HR Officer.

Your new role

The HR & HSEQ Officer provides support to the Management team to manage and maintain the company's HR processes, and integrated management system covering the areas of health, safety, quality and the environment.

Your responsibilities in this role will be equally focused in three key areas:

Human Resources:

  • Coordinating recruitment processes & managing all new employee on-boarding activities
  • Identifying, recording and maintaining all employee competency requirements
  • Managing ongoing compliance with legal requirements related to human resources
  • Providing support to managers and staff in relation to performance, leave and other employee relation matters

Health, Safety, Environment and Quality:
  • Assist with preparation and facilitation of internal and external audits to maintain compliance with standards.
  • Implement and maintain company policies and procedures
  • Facilitate and process all contractor compliance requests and keep updated registers, as directed.
  • Develop and present safety, risk and compliance training programs across the company
  • Maintain PPE levels and monitor equipment inspections.

Training and Development
  • Monitor, update and maintain currency of Training Matrix & records for all employees.
  • Obtain quotations for external training and assist with scheduling.
  • Deliver toolbox talks in accordance with training schedules.

What you'll need to succeed

  • Previous experience in supporting HSEQ and risk management procedures in the Construction/Mining industry.
  • Previous experience in a HR officer/coordinator role with knowledge of recruitment processes and induction and training processes.
  • Minimum Cert IV WHS (or higher)
  • Strong administration skills with intermediate MS Office skills.
  • Resilient with good interpersonal skills and a focus on providing good service to internal stakeholder in the HR & HSEQ support space.

This is a role that will start as a temporary opportunity. Based on performance and suitability, it may turn in to a permanent role in the future. Salary in line with your experience level and qualifications. You'll be home every night with 38 hours spanning Monday to Friday.
