The Role
Mount Isa Mines is currently seeking suitable eager applicants for the position of Environmental Technician. Reporting to the Environmental Technician Supervisor, you will be an integral part of the Environmental team, responsible for all aspects of environmental monitoring. This role is on a 12 Months Fixed Term contract.

Your key responsibilities include:
  • Complete field monitoring in a safe and efficient manner including collection of surface water, groundwater, soil and dust samples
  • Maintain monitoring equipment such as groundwater pumps and monitoring probes and addressing simple mechanical issues in the field
  • Prepare and managing monitoring documentation including submission forms, chain of custody forms, sampling field sheets and sampling checklists
  • Liaise with analytical laboratories to ensure stocks of consumables are maintained and that samples are being delivered within specified holding times
  • Collate, review and input monitoring data into data management systems
  • Conduct sampling preparation works including calibration of field probes, development of blank and duplicate samples, sample pre and post treatments etc.
  • Work within a team to support other members to deliver positive environmental outcomes
The successful applicants will have:
  • A passion for the environment, attention to detail and pride in their work
  • Minimum 1 year experience in fieldwork, preferably environmental monitoring or mineral processing
  • Reliable and confident to work outdoors and remotely by self for extended periods
  • Ability to troubleshoot and develop practical solutions to problems
  • Competency in the Microsoft Office suite
  • Manual driving licence
  • Experience with hazard identification and risk control
  • Certificate IV or higher in environmental management or relevant qualifications desired
