Your role

A highly respected Utilities owner/ operator has an immediate requirement for Project Manager to deliver the capital works program safely, on time and to budget. You will provide leadership, direction, contract and vendor management to a cost plus commercial model.

  • Provide leadership and direction to internal and external teams for the successful delivery of projects
  • Contribute to the shaping of effective strategies and activity plans to drive Capex/Opex efficiency
  • Workforce and resource planning to manage the scheduling of site works
  • Develop scope of works, tender documentation & undertake tender evaluations ensuring compliance with governance requirements
  • Provide accurate forecast on budgets and cost control all activities
  • Manage project scope and variation approval process
  • Manage and influence the performance of the contractors to achieve industry leading standards of productivity and safety
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable operational codes and standards relating to employee and community safety and protection of the environment
  • Manage performance, aligning individual KPIs to the BU strategy, conducting performance reviews
  • Contribute to workforce planning - perform effective and compliant recruitment of direct reports, ensuring roles are well designed and recruits are fit for role.
  • Proactively manage community issues and concerns, informing Management team of actions

Your background & experience

  • Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering or equivalent
  • 5 – 10+ years of project and/or operational management of utilities, pipelines, water, oil & gas, network assets, or heavy industrial projects
  • Diploma/Certification in project management (PMI, PRINCE2, AIPM etc) – preferred
  • Contract and vendor management experience with responsibility for budgets and personnel
  • Change management skills and ability to make sound operational decisions under pressure
  • Strong relationship building, communication and influencing skills
