About this Opportunity

We are looking for a highly proactive and passionate Commercial Director & Publisher to join our team. Reporting into the Director of Commercial Strategy & Product, the Commercial Director & Publisher is responsible for supporting and accelerating the growth of the Mumbrella brand. The role works closely with a team of cross-functional managers and is ultimately accountable for driving bottom line growth for the brand over the short and long term.


Working with the Director of Commercial Strategy & Product and the wider Diversified commercial team, this role will drive the expansion of the brand.


The Commercial Director & Publisher is a critical role for Diversified Communications Australia that acts as an ambassador for both Mumbrella and the Diversified group. 

Responsibilities include

  • Drive the continued growth of the Mumbrella brand ensuring consistently high-quality content and audiences are delivered to advertisers and sponsors across digital and event-based products.
  • Set, monitor and deliver realistic short-term and long-term financial and commercial targets and objectives in line with our business growth ambitions
  • Take ownership of and run the P&L with responsibility for driving the budget setting process, and accountability for bottom line and top line results and reporting
  • Reporting on financial and non-financial performance on an ongoing basis
  • Overseeing and supporting the day-to-day operations of Mumbrella. Working closely with content & editorial, sales, marketing and events to ensure financial and non-financial goals are met.
  • Continue to grow and commercialise on our in-depth understanding of our audience with a focus on first party data, segmentation and engagement. 
  • Drive the commercial strategy across the brand, monetising our audiences, providing ongoing market feedback, industry trend analysis, competitor analysis, product requirements and pricing gaps and opportunities to accelerate growth
  • Continuously exploring growth strategies and new revenue streams across new and existing products, developing actionable proposals and plans, including risk assessments and financial forecasts to accelerate growth
  • Building and maintaining a strong industry network across the media and marketing landscape

About you

  • Results oriented with proven experience in commercial management, publishing or relevant role, minimum 10 years
  • Comprehensive understanding of, and experience in, digital publishing
  • Proven experience building a professional community and monetising an audience
  • Ability to make decisions, collaborate and take action as required
  • Ability to analyse and use data to guide business decisions
  • Experience in senior level stakeholder relationships and negotiations
  • Highly self-motivated, with an entrepreneurial mindset to drive growth bringing energy and enthusiasm to the team
  • Extensive understanding of business growth models within the media landscape and ability to foresee commercial opportunities
  • Qualification in business administration, commerce, finance or similar relevant field
  • Experience within the media and marketing industry would be advantageous, but not essential
