About the Role

Responsible for the preparation of production plans and work centre schedules for our production workflow to ensure maximum performance and minimum delay.


  • Analyse order backlog and upcoming orders to prioritize, plan, and schedule the production operations.
  • Lead weekly Sales Production coordination meetings.
  • In conjunction with the Production Manager /purchasing manager revise the Master Production Plan and Forecast in line with the outcomes of the weekly coordination meeting.
  • Develop individual production schedules for each of the work centres within the departments to allocate available resources and priorities to the team leaders.
  • Monitor progress against the production schedules, report progress to the Production Manager and where necessary Sales.
  • Ensure that final product meets quality standards and customer specifications.
  • Develop forward capacity plans for each work centre to determine workload verses available capacity and create shop order packs for warehousing to pick and assemble to build according to a 3-month rolling plan.
  • Report on labour utilization and associated productivity metrics to the Production Manager.
  • Ensure that customer specified projects parts as well as nonstandard products are purchased on time with the appropriate Leadtime, delivery date and ensure follow up.
  • Collaborate with production on utilization efficiency.
  • Determine manpower, equipment and raw materials needed to cover the production demand and own variances to ensure customer OTD is achieved and within the budget.
  • Coordinate with the respective managers for the implementation of engineering changes that affect production and OTD.
  • Analyse delays and interruptions and adjust production schedule accordingly to meet deadlines.
  • Update Routings when required.
  • Perform Rough cut capacity planning to facilitate production and planning requirements and optimize Workload.


  • Experience in the use of MS Word Excel, ERP/MRP software system (EBS or equivalent.)
  • Have completed training in LEAN manufacturing, Six Sigma or similar programs.
  • Experience working in a manufacturing business.
  • Minimum of five years' experience working in a production planning and/or scheduling role in a manufacturing operation.
  • APICS qualification or Equivalent.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work both individually and within a team as required.
