Your new company

Your new role
As the Deputy Director General, Energy you will lead a specialised group of staff to ensure the delivery of safe, secure, affordable and sustainable energy supply across QLD. A key part of this includes your contribution to the transition to a lower carbon energy sector in a way that maintains affordability and reliability and ensures the state harnesses economic opportunities from this transition. Your advice and direction in executing energy policy will establish long-term energy strategies to address cost-of-living pressures, the development of the renewables industry and sustainability of the sector.

Key duties and accountabilities will include -

  • Lead the development and implementation of strategies, programs, regulatory frameworks and initiatives that underpin the long-term productivity growth and sustainability of QLD's energy sector.
  • Provide high quality strategic advice to the Director-General and Minister on policy, regulatory and compliance issues relating to sustainable energy supply.
  • Ensure strong linkages are developed with key stakeholders including electricity customers and industry to ensure coordinated and integrated policy and programs.
  • Represent the Government, Department and Director-General in a range of forums that require a content-specific perspective
  • Represent the QLD Government at the Senior Officials Meeting to support QLD's position at relevant national bodies.
  • Drive the delivery of services and portfolio commitments that meet the Government's priorities within budget allocation.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with the senior executive and key staff in DEPW, Treasury, Government Owned Corporations, other government agencies and stakeholders.
