Position Summary:

The COVID-vac group is responsible for managing and coordinating the roll-out of the COVID-19 vaccination to the state of Victoria. Operating as a dynamic multi-disciplinary team, the group will work closely with key internal and external stakeholders to deliver an effective and efficient immunisation campaign.

The Senior Communications Adviser will work across the Department to design, develop and deliver strategic communications material and advice that supports the safe, effective and trusted rollout of the COVID-19 Vaccine immunisation program.


  • Work collegiately across the Department to develop, deliver and evaluate communication strategies and deliver or oversee production of print, online and multimedia materials and departmental events.
  • Work collaboratively across the department to ensure the delivery of effective communications that are of a high written and visual standard and which comply with departmental and whole-of-Victorian Government guidelines.
  • Initiate and maintain effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders and seek opportunities to engage stakeholders in the development and application of new and/or contemporary methodologies to improve communications services.
  • Provide multi-disciplinary public relations and communications expertise and authoritative advice.
  • Identify positive story opportunities and identify risks and issues that will be contentious and provide authoritative and expert advice on how to manage them.
  • Prepare and present detailed, comprehensive reports, business cases, ministerial briefs and briefs on complex policy and operational issues as well as regular and ad hoc reports and correspondence.
  • Keep accurate and complete records of your work activities in accordance with legislative requirements and the department's records, information security and privacy policies and requirements.
  • Take reasonable care for your own health and safety and for that of others in the workplace by working in accordance with legislative requirements and the department's occupational health and safety (OHS) policies and procedures.
  • Demonstrate how the actions and outcomes of this role and work unit impact clients and the department's ability to deliver, or facilitate the delivery of, effective support and services.
