About the Role

With a continuous focus on reduce, reuse and recycle across the nation, the Waste and Resource Management Branch play an integral role in delivering sustainable outcomes for the region’s current and future state. Your role within this will be to oversee the operational aspects of waste diversion and disposal facilities across the Sunshine Coast.

Key duties include (but are not limited to):

  • High level of project management including project planning, financial and administrative records, contract activities and reporting.
  • Promote contractor performance through contract management and supervision of contractors on-the-ground.
  • Carry out technical investigations to identify any technical or operational issues or risks, and develop improvement practices.
  • Provision of expert advice to the team and stakeholders regarding legislation, policy and industry best practice.

About you

We’re looking for someone who will have the team’s objectives and aspirations in mind when performing the role, and will implement goals and plans to achieve them. Communication, interpersonal and networking skills are essential, coupled with successful delivery in research, analytical and reporting.

Mandatory requirements of this role include:

  • Bachelor Degree in Engineering (Civil or Environmental) or equivalent.
  • Demonstrated appreciation of the essentials of contract management and administration, including legal, risk management and financial management
  • Comprehensive knowledge of legislation and policy likely to impact on waste management
  • Driver’s Licence – “C” class
  • The position may require the appointee to work weekends and public holidays as rostered
