Senior SAS Developer

How will I help?

The Senior Data Developer role works in the intersection of analytics execution, systems design and project delivery disciplines, contributing towards the success of several of our analytics endeavours.

In this role you will be accountable for the effective and efficient build and management of the data deliverables, including design, development, documentation, support, and maintenance. The datasets you create underpin several uses, including delivering descriptive, diagnostic, predictive, and prescriptive analytics work.

  • Work with business units to understand credit risk related data elements, including identification of relevant reference data, metadata and data lineage.
  • Analyse source system data and identify any derived measures that are used by business
  • Development of data definitions along with Data Publication
  • Source data identification, involving identifying the optimal source of the required data variables (e.g., those required for modelling, calculation and reporting)
  • Data Investigation to help determine the root cause of the issue and where required, the development of business rules that need to be applied
  • The development of analytical data routines for extraction, alignment, transformation and preparation for analytical consumption
  • Engineering, detailed design and optimisation for data processes that exist in the Analytics Data Layer
  • Development and enhancement of the Analytics Data Framework by providing thought leadership on how analytics data needs to be managed, delivered and created

What do I need?

  • Extensive experience in Base SAS programming, particularly in data manipulation and cleansing
  • Extensive experience in SQL programming in complex data environments
  • Demonstrable experience of Business Analysis and Functional & Non-Functional Analysis experience.
  • Strong experience within projects and/or delivery of business and technology solutions, involving engineering of complex data processes
  • Proven experience in data quality analysis and remediation in a large/complex financial services organisation
  • Credit Risk and/or Banking Product experience
  • Good knowledge and hands-on experience working with data in multiple formats such as XML, CSV, flat files, SAS datasets and Teradata database/server
  • Effective stakeholder management and excellent communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently, a high level of self-direction, problem solving ability and self-motivated.
  • Ability to work in an Agile team environment, and contribute and embed best practice and ideas within this team


  • Advanced SAS and SQL skills preferred
  • Experience in data analysis and modelling
  • Hands on use of the Atlassian toolset of JIRA, Confluence and BitBucket


Tertiary qualifications in Maths, Statistics, Quantitative, Business, Computer Engineering or equivalent business experience.
