We are now seeking expression of interest from current Newcrest staff in the position of Superintendent – Long Term Shut Planning to support our Lihir Gold Operation (LGO).

The Role:

We are seeking an experienced and strategic Superintendent – Long Term Shut Planning to join the Shutdown Management team at Lihir. Reporting to the Manager - Shutdowns, you will forecast 1-3 years on the shutdown horizon and carry out required planning and scheduling tasks to provide a sound basis for the Short-Term Shutdown team to work and identify future shutdown requirements, ensuring Shutdown labour contracts and relationships are maintained.

To be successful in this role, you will need to meet the following criteria:

  • 10+ years of relevant work experience in mineral processing including large-scale fixed asset management experience is essential.
  • Experience in the planning and delivery of multi-disciplinary shutdowns and maintenance projects.
  • Tertiary qualified Bachelor’s in Mechanical Engineering or Asset Management or Relevant trades certificate is essential.
  • High competency in shutdown planning and scheduling processes and systems.
  • Skilled in the use of the CMMS/EAM and SAP software to manage the day-to-day planning and scheduling of maintenance activities.
  • Computer proficiency in MS Office suite and SAP.
  • Certificate in Workplace Assessment and Training or similar desirable.
  • High-level communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Proficient in English with excellent verbal, written communication, and public speaking skills.
  • Sound planning, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work under pressure and autonomously.
  • Excellent attention to detail and time management skills to meet deadlines.
  • Strong active listening & interpersonal skills for rapport building, conflict resolution & training
