As the needs and demands of the community services sector grow, ProCare Australia is seeking to recruit qualified, flexible, hardworking, and experienced Residential Out of Home Care Youth Workers who can help provide support to leading services in the Government and Non-Government sector.

As a Residential Out of Home Care Youth Worker of ProCare Australia, you will work within our client’s therapeutic model and be responsible for engaging and supporting children and young people with challenging and complex needs/behaviours to achieve social, educational and emotional goals. Our client is looking for enthusiastic, engaging, and emotional intelligent workers to support their multiple houses.

About the role:

We are seeking experienced Residential Out of Home Care Youth Workers, with open availability to facilitate part time to full time hours, at a range of rural properties across the Laidley/Gatton area. Our client is only seeking interest from workers who can commit to the program and the unique and exciting therapeutic care model.

TCI training and induction to the client’s program will be provided to all successfully placed Residential Out of Home Care Youth Workers.

This is a fantastic opportunity to expand your toolbox as a Residential Out of Home Care Youth Worker, while directly engaging with and supporting youth in out of home care.

With a unique residential care model, our clients’ properties are technology free, encouraging children and young people to get out of the house and explore their rural environment. This approach requires workers to think creatively and facilitate the young people to engage in a range of activities.

To meet the criteria of our client, you will:

  • Be comfortable with a technology free environment for Young People – no TV’s or video games
  • Be committed to engaging in activities with Young People within the native surroundings
  • Prepare healthy and nutritious meals for the Young People whilst on shift
  • Be comfortable with the ‘rural lifestyle’ – bush walks and other outdoor activities. Animals may be kept on the property

To be Successful, you must have:

  • A minimum Certificate IV level qualification in a Child / Youth / Community Service-related field
  • A current Blue Card
  • A current National Police Check
  • A current First Aid & CPR Certificate
  • A minimum 12 months paid experience within residential out of home care.
  • A vehicle with full comprehensive car insurance, registration and an open driver’s licence
  • Experience working with complex and challenging behaviours.
  • An understanding of trauma and attachment theories and the resulting behaviours likely to be demonstrated by our young people.

Desirable:

  • Hope and Healing Certificate
  • Therapeutic Crisis Intervention (TCI) trained
  • Youth Mental Health First Aid
  • Experience working with Indigenous and CALD clients
  • COVID19 Training
  • A current LCS2 check (or willingness to obtain)

Salary & Benefits

  • Base salary is paid between $40.83 - $73.49 per hour plus super
  • Night, weekend, and public holiday penalty rates on top of the base rate
  • Flexible working hours
