Our client is a global manufacturer of industry-leading construction and mining equipment, heavy machinery, and renewable wind-energy systems. With over 30 years of experience, their technology makes their machines ready to take on the most difficult jobs and they have grown to become one of the most dynamic, technologically advanced producers of heavy machinery in the world. With a growing international presence, they drive construction projects across the globe.

The Role

Due to ongoing growth this business now requires an experienced Sales Director to lead the sales function nationally with an initial focus across the East Coast of Australia. Reporting to the Managing Director (Oceania), this is a 2IC role wherein you will develop and implement sales strategies, tactics and action plans to drive profitable revenue growth, expand market share and improve customer acquisition/retention.

You will be responsible for leading a team of sales managers to drive direct sales and build new accounts in the construction, infrastructure and civil industry. In addition, you will be engaging with the dealer network of the company and push sales through that network as well.

Key Responsibilities
  • Establish sales objectives by creating a customer strategy across the region
  • Optimising sales structures to drive opportunity led and new customer growth
  • Take a lead role and guide commercial strategies
  • Direct sales, Dealer management, Account management & major projects including tenders.
  • Contract reviews and new business growth
  • Liaise with the international based departments, as and when required
  • Ability to travel and engage with customers and current networks within the construction industry
  • Analyse market trend and create competitive pricing strategy for the market
The Candidate

This role would suit an enthusiastic, agile and hands-on sales director with a global outlook. Representing the company, you will have a strong client network, an open-minded approach and a hunger to grow the business.
In addition to having a proven capability at an executive level, to be successful in the role you will need to have strong experience leading the sales function in a matrix reporting environment and show a history of winning and executing sales. There will be travel required within Australia.

  • Extensive construction equipment / machinery industry experience with a proven track record of winning business
  • Broad contacts and highly networked
  • Strong presentation, sales, negotiation, and influencing skills
  • Proven ability to achieve and exceed targets
  • Ability to lead a team spread across different locations
  • The ability to work autonomously with a self-motivated and proactive approach
  • Advanced communication skills
  • A result-oriented individual with “Go-getter” attitude
