What will you do?

In this position you will join our Energy business, where you will play an integral part in a team of highly skilled specialists that ‘bring ideas to life’ for our clients across all types of energy infrastructure - including assessment and integration of new power generation projects such as renewable inverter-connected power generation and battery storage projects, optimising the planning and operation of transmission and distribution systems, and providing technical advice to a wide range of national and international stakeholders including network owners, system operators, developers, governments and regulatory and financial institutions.

Advise our clients on the planning, design and optimisation of current and future networks, power generation including storage, and control system solutions for transmission and distribution systems.

Identify existing and emerging technologies and crafting solutions for our clients to address new and emerging power system challenges associated with the displacement of synchronous generators coincident with rapid uptake of grid-connected and distributed inverter-based resources.

join one of the largest Australian community of specialists in power systems analysis and planning, to work collaboratively across the business and with clients bringing diverse skillsets together and innovation to complex problems

be responsive to client’s needs and have a reputation for quality and timely advice, providing advice to our clients on their power system development, planning, operation and optimisation

develop state-of-the-art power system simulation models for individual components and wider networks as required

perform power system studies based on commercial tools, and most importantly analyse the results from these assessments and explain the system behaviours observed

We know today’s complex challenges can only be solved through bringing together diverse teams of people from across our business, so there will be opportunities for you to apply your skills and creativity to projects in other geographies and markets.

What can you bring to the team?

Firstly, you will share our genuine passion for re-imagining engineering and be someone that actively pursues continuous learning to help shape the future.

You will also be degree qualified and have at least 5-10 years’ post-graduation experience for Senior Engineers and at least 10-15 years of experience for Principal Engineer positions in a power industry role as a consultant or power project developer/owner/operator. A strong understanding of electrical engineering and of power systems theory relating to electricity transmission, distribution and generation and associated control and protection principles will be required for this role. Extensive experience in power system modelling tools in particular with PSCAD and PSS/E will support your success in this role. Site and practical experience in a relevant area are also a plus for this role as is experience in power system model development, coding, scripting and automation.
