The Planning, Environment and Community Services (PECS) Directorate is an integrated, multidisciplinary service responsible for managing and maintaining the planning, building and development, compliance and regulatory, economic, customer-focusing and frontline services, community and environmental functions of Council.

The Director PECS position is a key role within the organisation and will report directly to the Chief Executive Officer. This position will be responsible for working with the PECS Directorate to develop a positive culture of growth and success through strategic leading and management. The Director PECS will be integral in ensuring that the PECS Directorate are meeting the ongoing needs of its communities by ensuring customer focused, high levels of service.

We’re looking for an adaptable and innovative professional who possesses a collaborative leadership style with the ability to enable and empower teams to ensure positive operational outcomes. With a continuous improvement and forward-thinking mindset, you will also have excellent relationship building and communication skills and be a strategic team player.

You must have a strong understanding of the Local Government system and of the development, political, legal, social, economic, planning and environmental issues confronting the region. An appropriate tertiary qualification is mandatory and having a demonstrated ability to lead an experienced team of highly skilled professionals through competing priorities in a dynamic, community focussed environment will be invaluable to your application.


  • A five (5) year fixed-term full-time contract;
