An exciting opportunity is available to join the executive leadership team with Blacktown City Council. As the Director City Planning, you will contribute to the City’s business strategy and growth.

Blacktown City Council is the largest Council in New South Wales. With almost unmatched growth expected over the next 25 years. They are on an exciting journey of transformation to prepare for a population of more than 550,000. This is an opportunity to play an integral part in the direction and growth of this great city.

The Role

Reports to the Chief Executive Officer and is responsible for managing and leading the City’s Planning Divisions. You will lead Corporate Projects that require the development and management of cross-functional teams and resources. Strong stakeholder management skills are essential to your success.

You will be responsible for performance management, preparing directorate plans that align with Council’s Strategic Direction and provide executive level input into developing Council’s suite of integrated Planning and Reporting documents.

Overseeing 118 direct and indirect reports, you will be a strong and passionate leader who can drive a culture that is aligned with the council’s values.

As an ambassador for the City at public events, you will contribute to the positive image of Blacktown City Council and the community.

The Person

Be a proven leader with the ability to motivate and inspire your staff. Have extensive planning and development and change management experience. Demonstrated experience in promoting and implementing a corporate vision and business strategies in large and diverse organisations.

You will have the following:

  • Degree in Planning or equivalent or another related field.
  • Understanding of NSW legislation.
  • NSW Local Government or NSW State Government is experience desired.

Total Remuneration Package:

  • Salary - $309,153.60
  • Superannuation - $21,694.40.
