Great opportunity to play a critical role within the Energy Safety and Security branch with a focus on energy safety projects and regulatory improvements.

Department: Department of Environment, Land, Water and Planning

The Manager, Energy Safety Projects, leads the team responsible for developing and delivering energy safety projects. This includes providing expert advice to senior departmental executives, the Minister and Cabinet.

The successful candidate will have demonstrated people management and policy development experience, as well as a demonstrated ability to work collaboratively and constructively with a diverse range of stakeholders to deliver desired outcomes. The successful candidate will apply an outcomes and delivery focused approach to their work, be able to deliver a work program with a high level of complexity and sensitivity and operate under broad direction. In this important leadership role, the successful candidate will need to exercise a significant degree of independence, discretion and good judgement.

Specialist/Technical Expertise/Qualifications

  • Demonstrated experience and sound knowledge of the public sector, including experience with government operations, regulation policy and decision making processes (desirable).
  • Knowledge of the energy sector and/or safety regulation (desirable).
  • Tertiary qualification in science, engineering, law, economics, public policy or similar (desirable).

This is a fixed term position available until 30 June 2021.
